"I'm afraid of my shadows, Dad."
"Why are you afraid of your shadows, my Son?"
"Because they are so dark."
"They are only dark because you are between them and the light. There is nothing to be afraid of there, silly boy..."
"Why is that Dad?"
"Because, once you learn to hold both your shadow and your light, you see yourself from two sides, and then you can meet yourself in the middle. When you're in the middle, you'll find there is nothing at all to be afraid of there, my Son."
I was too young then to understand how wise my Father was.
